.I didn't even bother to reply. My mother-in-law happened to hear them and she shooed them away.

Since Mary had all the control of the money, Bob couldn't even buy himself a haircut without her permission.

One day, at the airline, a customer said to Bob, "Thank you, Miss". Bob turned red, and didn't answer. I took a good look at Bob. He did look like a woman. Tight slacks clung to his wide hips and curved up to his small waist. He wore a Swifter blazer and sweater over his shirt, which fit tightly across the breasts. His small nipples seemed to jiggle with each step and his long hair a mess from the wind, added to the mistaken identity.

There was one thing I felt guilty about for a long time, partly because I was unknowingly a part of Bob's humiliation. His birthday fell during the last week of August. Mary had asked me to invite all our friends for a surprise birthday party. I thought it was nice of her, having no idea of what she had in mind.

I invited practically everyone Dot and I could think of. A few couldn't make it because they had other plans or were away. The plan was to arrive all together at six o'clock for drinks and buffet. Mary had promised to make a birthday cake. She would keep him busy with some excuse and when she gave the signal we would enter and we would all sing "Happy Birthday".

Some surprise it was for poor Bob. We all sneaked quietly into the house with Mary constantly cautioning us to keep the noise down. That needed some doing with nearly twelve of us giggling into the house.

Then the moment came. We all stood in a circle facing the door with anticipating smiles. The door opened. We all shouted "Surprise" but most of us stopped mid-word. There stood Bob. . .but completely decked out as a young woman. His face became fiery red and he turned to flee the room, but Ms. Mary blocked his way.
